Get Out & About - 5 Fun, Family-Friendly Outings Over Thanksgiving



You love your family to pieces, but like them better when they’re entertained. We get it and put together a quick list of fun, family-friendly outings going on across Charleston over the Thanksgiving holidays. 


When: Wednesday, November 27th from 4:00-8:00PM 

Where: Wild Dunes Resort, 1 Sundial Circle Isle of Palms, SC 29451


Wild Dunes is inviting everyone to the Village Plaza to kick off their Thanksgiving festivities! Join them at the fire pit for dinner, bingo, games, and a family-friendly movie. This year’s extensive menu features southern favorites, along with a drink package available. 

Beginning with bingo and a dinner buffet, enjoy an assortment of activities and games all evening followed by a movie at sunset.Tickets start at $40 for adults with the drink package available for $23. The kiddos can revel in the evening’s activities for $23. 


When: Thursday, November 28th 9:00am

Where: Marion Square at the intersection of Calhoun and Meeting Streets


The 42nd annual Turkey Day 5K run is a great way to start your Thanksgiving and work for all that stuffing! Beginning in Marion Square, winding through the streets of downtown, and finishing up with free food and drinks back in Marion Square, this race is marked by beautiful scenery and historic landmarks. Adult registration starts at $30 - for an additional $8 you can get an official Turkey Day Run t-shirt to show off your running ability.


Children’s Fun Run: If your little one isn’t ready for a full 5k yet, that doesn’t mean they have to miss out on the fun. The Children’s Fun Run is designed for kids 10 years and under. The race begins at 10AM and is broken into heats based on ages. Kids can tackle the Fun Run for $10! 


When: Thursday, November 28th 10:30AM

Where: Palmetto Drive at Wild Dunes Resort, Kiawah Island


Start Turkey Day off with a golf cart parade down Palmetto Drive! Led by the Isle of Palms Fire Department and followed by Santa Claus, this parade is enjoyable for drivers and spectators alike and of all ages. 


If you have your own golf cart, you’re encouraged to deck it out and strut your stuff! However, rental carts are available for $40 with a small assortment of decorations included. Reservations must be made by November 27, 2019 and all carts participating in the festivities must be parade-ready by 10:00AM sharp.
